Where it started

A list going round on Facebook, February 2016: "which of these items have you experienced" etc. Some yes, some no, some didn't interest me. However, it put some ideas into my head, and I figured it was time I followed some of my friends in committing them to (virtual) paper. And then trying some of them out. The first challenge was undertaken on 1 March 2016, and I have no intention of ever completing the list: the more I tick off, the more I'll add.

The life list

The Rector's Wife, well into her second half-century, decides that she wants to create a few interesting / exciting / unusual / challenging targets.

Oh, and by the way: having thought about it, I've decided I don't like the term 'bucket list'. It implies 'tick it off before you die'. I prefer 'life list': things to try, and possibly make part of your life - however much of it there is left. As the splendid Kath Temple puts it, "one wild and precious life".

I'm delighted to have got down to a healthy weight since 2014 - after half a century of struggle - but want to continue to improve the fitness, so that's been part of the impetus - and there are quite a few items in the list that will help that aim. Beyond that, though, there are so many places and experiences, opportunities and ideas, large and small, that I'd like to try.

From all those extraordinary and brilliant ideas as suggested by my friends (see link above), I'm building a list. I'll update it as I go along, and link to posts where I make progress... items shown in bold are links to these reports.

Hyperlinks are to my postings on this blog (bold), or to the organisations / locations I've been to / worked with (not bold); items in red have been achieved but not yet blogged. Items marked * aren't quite new to me, but hadn't been attempted in many years - in some cases, since childhood.

  1. Love your list - as for riding a camel, it's a bit like a horse, but much higher up and in my opinion scarier haha! Worth a go though!
